Roadrunners of Nevada County
Sept. 7: Exploring Mare Island. Docent led tour of Mare Island includes the mansions of Officer’s Row, St. Peter’s Chapel with its 26 Tiffany stained glass windows, Mare Island Artifacts Museum, and the dry docks along the waterfront. Delicious hot lunch is also included. Bus pick up in Rough & Ready Park & Ride is at 7:15 and Grass Valley SPD at 7:30 a.m.
Oct. 18: Apple Hill. We like to go to Apple Hill on a Friday because many craft vendors are already there but the weekend crowds are not. Trip includes barbecue chicken lunch with apple pie and ice cream at High Hill Ranch and an apple fritter to go. After lunch we tour some of the other apple orchards and visit more craft vendors at various location. Bus pick up is 7:30 at Rough & Ready Park & Ride and 8 a.m. at SPD in Grass Valley.
Oct. 25: Missiles and Mammals. We’re going to the Marin Headlands to tour decommissioned Nike Missile Station SF88, have a picnic lunch by the beach and tour the Marine Mammal Center – all within a mile of each other near Fort Cronkite. Fall is traditionally a beautiful time of year by the coast and this should be a fantastic excursion. 7:30 Park and Ride, 8 a.m. SPD.
Dec. 15: Cirque du Soleil: Amaluna. There is no better cirque show than the original, the one that started it all – Cirque du Soleil. Join us to see their new traveling show “AMALUNA” presented under the big top at AT&T park in San Francisco. Dinner is included after the show at Hometown Buffet in Pinole. Bus pick up is 8 a.m. at Rough & Ready Park & Ride and 8:30 a.m. at SPD in Grass Valley.
