Are you a grandparent of a preschooler? Become a participant or playgroup leader for Grandparents of Preschoolers (GPOPS) through the Sierra Nevada Children’s Services. A two hour commitment, once a week, provides fun and enrichment for our little ones.

Learn first-hand about volunteer coordination. Assist office staff with updating volunteer opportunities and matching volunteers as needed. Computer and strong organizational skills are essential. Compassion and sense of humor required.
Do you like to ‘tinker’ or ‘fix-it’?
FREED Center for Independent Living has a significant need for volunteers with handy person and home repair skills. Help people live safely and independently in their homes. Projects include grab bar installations, ramp construction, minor plumbing, and electrical repairs.
Home delivered meals
The need for Home Delivered Meal Drivers never stops. Both regular and substitute drivers are needed Monday through Friday. You pick your schedule. Driver’s license and good driving record required. Ability to follow directions is essential.

Seniors and people with disabilities in our community are waiting for a Friendly Visitor. These seniors are isolated in some way and would like social interaction and weekly visits. Talk, play cards or games, and share common hobbies together. Training and guidance is provided.
Office assistant/call intake trainee
NCLA needs assistance in organizing their new office and updating current manuals and other documents. Volunteers should be experienced in Microsoft Work and able to format and edit manuals. Volunteers are also needed to answer phones for legal services.
Multiple opportunities, multiple skills
If you have skills in fundraising, event coordinating, outreach, or webpage design, PFLAG needs your help. From assisting board members to group presentations, newsletters and more, your public relations and computer skills will help educate individuals and groups on what PFLAG does in our community.
New event committee
United Way needs volunteers to help plan annual events and to create a brand new signature event. United Way’s service priority is to strive to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic needs for food, emergency shelter and access to health care.
For persons 55 and over, accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided. Limited mileage reimbursement is available.
