Create life changing connections through the telephone

If you are compassionate, enjoy friendly conversation and look forward to “making someone’s day”, we may have the volunteer job for you! Under the guidance of RSVP staff, we are looking for volunteers to take one shift a week; either in the morning (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) or afternoons (12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.) to call local seniors that have signed up to participate in our Telephone Reassurance Program. Many of the volunteers with this program say they get as much out of the experience as the senior being called. Volunteers will also be making appointments for various community events. It is “on the job training;” you will need to be comfortable speaking on the phone and have some general computer skills. Your help will make a difference in many people’s lives — guaranteed.

Volunteer to be a Book Buddy!

Deliver books and other library materials to those who are housebound. The Book Buddy Program matches volunteers with individuals who cannot get to the library to select the materials they wish to enjoy.

The Book Buddy becomes familiar with the patrons preferences, selects appropriate materials, delivers them to the patron’s home and also returns the materials to the library.

A friendly personality, fingerprinting and current car insurance is required.
