Home delivered meals
Drivers are needed to substitute when regular drivers are ill or want to take a vacation. You choose the days and routes you’re willing to work. There is also a need on Wednesdays for their Lake of the Pines route. Please have a driver’s license and good driving record.
Help serve our veterans
Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a young vet or an older vet who still struggles with PTSD? Welcome Home Vets supports veterans and the families of those veterans who are walking the path back home with their families. Currently, there are multiple open positions, including a special events coordinator, intake and referral specialist, and donation coordinator.
Office assistant/call intake trainee
NCLA needs assistance in organizing their new office and updating current manuals and other documents. Volunteer should be experienced in Microsoft Work and are able to format and edit manuals. Volunteers are also needed to answer the phones for legal services. Training is provided.
Be a ‘Fix-It’ volunteer
We have a significant need for volunteers with handy person and home repair skills. FREED Center for Independent Living helps people live safely and independently in their homes, and volunteers help make that happen.
Projects range from grab bar installations, ramp construction, and minor plumbing or electrical repairs.
Event volunteer committee
United Way needs volunteers to help plan annual events and to create a brand new signature event. United Way’s service priority is to strive to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic needs for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. If you are creative and love to help our community, this volunteer position may be perfect for you.
Learn first-hand about volunteer coordination. Assist office staff with updating volunteer opportunities and matching volunteers as needed. Computer and strong organizational skills are required.
Share your love of railroads and give informative talks regarding Nevada County history as a docent for the railroad museum in Nevada City. Training is provided. Docent volunteers must enjoy working with children.
Wood yard supervisor
The Senior Firewood Program is a volunteer activity that has provided free firewood to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities in Nevada County since 1982. Supervise a group of dedicated volunteers that split, stack and deliver wood. Provide necessary safety instruction, track volunteer activity, and manage the wood facility.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe are looking for a few volunteers that can offer their time and caring to help boys that need some extra care. This position requires at least one hour a week and a one year commitment. They also need someone to match with a 10 year old girl.
United Way needs your passion, enthusiasm and work experience to become part of a board that raises funds for a broad spectrum of community partners. The ideal candidates have government, sales, accounting, or local business experience.
Do you have experience in website development and knowledge of Dreamweaver? The Interfaith Food Ministry needs your help with website development and maintenance. Work can be done from home!
For persons 55 and over, accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided. Limited mileage reimbursement is available.
