Wood yard supervisor
The Senior Firewood Program is a volunteer activity that has provided free firewood to low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities in the Grass Valley and Nevada City area since 1982. Supervise a group of dedicated volunteers that split, stack and deliver wood. Provide safety instruction, track and report volunteer activity, manage the wood facility. Your work will keep over 124 households warm.
Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate
March 30th is the next orientation to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). You will be trained to work directly with a child who has been removed from their home because of abuse or neglect. Working with the child’s family, social worker, and the court, a CASA listens, learns, and advocates on behalf of the child.
United Way needs your passion, enthusiasm and work experience to become part of a board that raises money for a broad spectrum of community partners. The ideal candidates have government, sales, accounting, or local business experience.
A volunteer coordinator/supervisor is needed to help organize volunteers that distribute holiday food at Easter. Duties include scheduling and planning food distribution with other community agencies to coordinate events. If you have some experience with event planning and are able to deal simultaneously with multiple issues, this rewarding position could be for you.
Do you have experience in website development and knowledge of Dreamweaver? The Interfaith Food Ministry needs your help with website development and maintenance. Work can be done from home!
Learn first-hand about volunteer coordination. Assist office staff with filing documents, organizing resource binders, answering phones, and other clerical support as needed. Computer and strong organizational skills are required.
Put your accounting skills to good work by volunteering for the North Gold Senior Mountaineers. Assist in preparation of (or perform) a first time audit, so this senior center may obtain future funding through grants. Work can be done at your home.
After school drivers
The Friendship Club engages, educates, and empowers girls at risk. Drivers help bring girls from their schools to the Friendship Club so they may attend after school meetings.
Drivers may also transport girls on local field trips, community activities, or mini-camps during the school year and the summer. This is a short-term volunteer position.
A few good men
Big Brothers of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe are looking for a few volunteers that can offer their time and caring to help boys that need some extra care.
This position requires at least one hour a week and a one year commitment.
Help serve our veterans
Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a young vet or an older vet who still struggles with PTSD? Welcome Home Vets supports veterans and the families of those vets who are walking the path back home with their families.
Currently, there are multiple open positions including a Special Events Coordinator, Donation Coordinator, Intake and Referral Specialist, and Transportation Assistant.
Grass Valley Police
The Grass Valley Police Department needs your help with various tasks for the department. Whether its car and foot patrol or traffic and crowd control for special events; act as their “eyes and ears” to help keep our community safe.
For persons 55 and over, accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided. Limited mileage reimbursement is available.
