Holiday Cheer needs driving coordinator

Help bring holiday cheer to many seniors in Nevada County. A Driving Coordinator is needed immediately to set the wheels in motion to map and coordinate driving routes for holiday cheer drivers. If you have organizational and map reading skills, this is a wonderful way to spread joy throughout our community.

Looking for a volunteer opportunity Monday or Tuesday afternoon?

HelpLine Senior Information and Assistance and telephone reassurance needs your communication skills to connect seniors to local health and social services. Answer phones, make outgoing calls, and be comfortable using a computer. HelpLine is located in the RSVP offices. Volunteers are needed Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 12:30-4 p.m.

Scan it

Nevada County Housing Department needs a temporary office assistant to scan housing files and do light computer entry data. Days and hours are flexible.

Enjoy cooking?

If you enjoy cooking and serving for a group of 12-30 girls, come to The Friendship Club. Prepare a healthy, nutritious snack for middle school and/or high school girls from our community. Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons from 2-5:30 p.m.

Healthy Harvest gardeners

The Food Bank of Nevada County is harvesting vegetables for distribution to their clients and partner agencies. Between now and November, they need your help. No gardening experience is necessary; just the desire to help feed the needy.

Receptionists needed

Receptionists are needed for the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Direct calls using multiple extension phone system, answer questions from customers, and take messages. Volunteers will receive training and support from Habitat staff.

Strong outreach drivers needed

The Food Bank of Nevada County delivers food to home bound individuals once a month. A few drivers are needed for the morning route; the third Wednesday of every month. Volunteers each take a route with seven or eight individuals on it. Car or truck needed with enough room to hold eight boxes and bags of fresh produce. Can you lend a hand?

Tutoring: math, reading, science

Classroom assistants needed to work with elementary and middle school students. Share your knowledge with students that need help with their ‘basic skills’. In all situations, the classroom teacher is present while the volunteer is assisting students.

Play it again …

The first Friday of each month is your opportunity to play piano for a grateful group of convalescent home residents during on-site church services.

Putting wheels in motion

Work with middle school students in a state of the art bicycle repair facility. The Bicycle Recycle Project at Seven Hills School in Nevada City provides students with hands-on learning of basic bicycle mechanical skills, reinforces the value of recycling, and provides the satisfaction of helping others.

Hair today

Would you like to use your hairdresser skills to help a senior citizen feel good at a convalescent hospital? It takes only one hour, one day and one act of kindness.

Office assistance

Hospice of the Foothills needs clerical volunteers to help with filing, phones, computer entry, and general organizational house support. Volunteers are needed every day. Excellent computer skills, good communication and organizational skills are needed.

Share your computer skills

Home delivered meal drivers

If you enjoy helping seniors, and can follow written and visual driving directions, the Home Delivered Meals program needs your help. Drivers are needed for routes Monday through Friday. It takes only 2 ½ hours once a week to provide nourishment and care.

For persons 55 and over, accident, liability and excess auto insurance are provided. Limited mileage reimbursement is available.
