Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Whether you’re interested in using your current skills or learning a new one, RSVP has over a hundred volunteer opportunities that span education, public service, working with seniors and children, and many more. Volunteer Coordinator for the Nevada City Police Department



The Nevada City Police Department is in need of a Volunteer Coordinator! As the Volunteer Coordinator you would work with the department in planning for events in Nevada City, and then coordinate and schedule the other volunteers for such events. The Volunteer Coordinator needs to be organized, have good communications skills, have a flexible schedule, and should be available to work during the holiday events.

Enjoy the fun and volunteer at the United Way’s 10th Annual “Grills ‘n’ Grilles” event!




The United Way of Nevada County is in need of volunteers to help at their 10th Annual “Grills ‘n’ Grilles” fundraising event! Volunteers will help with setting up and/ or tearing down the event, ticket sales, food and drink sales, or selling mementos throughout the event. This year the event will be held on August 27 at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley. Visitors and volunteers alike will enjoy Kansas City Barbecue Society & Backyard BBQ competitions, car show, disc golf tournament, live music, as well as several other fun activities! Volunteers are needed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and are asked to be available for shifts lasting two to four hours.

Join the Event Volunteer Committee … The United Way

United Way needs volunteers to help plan annual events and to help create a brand new signature event. United Way’s service priority is to strive to assure individuals and families in Nevada county are able to meet their basic needs for food, emergency shelter and access to health care.

Skills required: If you are creative, like to help the community, and love to brainstorm; this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you. Be a part of a special project from start to finish. You will see the results of your creativity and work. Days Needed: One to two days a week. Time: flexible.

Do you love visiting the Restore and have cashier experience?

The Nevada County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a thrift store for building materials and supplies open to the general public in western Nevada County. The ReStore sells donated used or surplus building materials and supplies at a discounted rate. Currently, The ReStore is in need of volunteers to assist as cashiers. Cashiers ring up customer purchases, make accurate change, run credit cards, keep the cashier area tidy and stock small items. Customer service experience in a fast paced environment and cash handling experience is a plus. Shift length is four hours or more, depending on the desire of the volunteer.
