Whether you're interested in using your current skills or learning a new one, RSVP has over a hundred volunteer opportunities that span education, public service, working with seniors and children, and many more. RSVP is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service and sponsored locally by the Agency on Aging Area 4.

Last call! Jurors, take your seats!

Grand Juror volunteers are chosen and sworn in by Nevada County Superior Court Justices to inspect, investigate and analyze the efficiency of tax-funded agencies in Nevada County. Working with a team of 19 Nevada County citizens, perform the vital "watchdog function" over performance and processes of County and Municipal services, tax funded commissions, fire, water, school districts, law enforcement agencies, etc. Impaneled for a one year term, the Grand Jury reports each year to the citizenry. Grand Jurors operate under a strict code of behavior and confidentiality with strong personal ethics, curiosity some computer literacy. Must serve as a team player with sessions up to three days a week, 10 to 20 hours/week. Expenses paid according to code statutes.

Volunteer coordinator for the North Star Historic Conservancy

The volunteer coordinator for the North Star Historic Conservancy works with the board and event chairs to determine volunteer job needs. Once the need is determined, the volunteer coordinator recruits through various outreach and media forms. Interviews of prospective volunteer candidates would be conducted a few times a month at the North Star House office, after which the Volunteer Coordinator would provide new volunteers with an orientation of NSHC, their overall role and responsibility, and a tour of the property.

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is in need of volunteers to join the Songbird Team. Support the functions of the WR&R Intake Center from May 1 through August 31 and help rehabilitate injured and diseased songbirds in Nevada County. Volunteer responsibilities include answering the phone to educate callers on how to handle wild songbirds and refer people outside of Nevada County to appropriate agencies, receiving songbirds at the Intake Center and ensuring that Medical Database forms are filled out correctly.

Publicity/PR coordinator for North Star Historic Conservancy

The North Star Historic Conservancy is recruiting for a Publicity/ PR Coordinator. This volunteer would work with the Board, Program and Event Chairs, along with various Committees of NSHC to develop an annual publicity/ outreach calendar to advertise and promote events, activities and the mission of the North Star Historic Conservancy (NSHC). The Publicity/ PR Coordinator would prepare the annual budget for promotion and advertising costs; write press releases on projects, activities, accomplishments and special events for all media outlets including radio, newspapers, and social media as outreach sources. Please have great writing and listening skills, a basic understanding of local media sources, and experience on how to access and use our local media sources including radio, newspaper, the internet, and social media.
