Twin Cities Church

Unity in the Gold Country

Join us this Sunday when, Rev. Jerry Farrell begins our 7 week study program on the book by Deepak Chopra, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” The first week is “The Law of Pure Potentiality.” Music by Billy Bensing and Kellie Garmire. Mountain Stream Meditation Center

Our Buddhist Insight Meditation group meets every Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mountain Stream Meditation Center, 710 Zion St., Nevada City. Please carpool. On October 7, Mountain Stream teacher Heather Sundberg will lead a silent meditation followed by a talk. October 7 is also “Beginner’s Mind Monday,” with a special welcome and introductory instructions for new friends from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.

Our group also meets on the first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a potluck. On October 6, community dharma leader Maeve Hassett will give a talk on “The Three Qualities of Being Human: Natural Intelligence, Natural Warmth & Natural Openness.”

Pray Nevada County

WE are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. Grass Valley AM AGLOW

We are a local chapter of Aglow International, meets the second Tuesday of every month from 9:45 a.m. to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. At the October 8 meeting, our speaker will be Laura Duncan, ministering on the “Power of the Promises of God” and sharing the book she co-authored with her late husband Jeff. This will be a very encouraging and uplifting meeting!

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

Need healing? Physical or emotional? The Healing Rooms of Nevada County pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on first and third Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee and no appointment is necessary. Grass Valley United Methodist Church

Please join us on Sunday mornings at 8:45 for our Contemplative service or 10:30 a.m. for our Traditional service. Coffee will be available in between services as well as after the Traditional service. Homework Heaven meets each Wed. at 3:30 p.m. Worship for young families (WOW) will meet on Wed. October 9, with a pasty potluck dinner starting at 5 p.m. followed by a worship service.

Our young people will be conducting a car wash in the church parking lot this coming Sunday, Oct. 6, during the worship service. Come to church and while you are worshiping, your car can be washed and cleaned. Proceeds will go to children in poverty overseas.

“Unreality” is the subject for this week’s Bible lesson sermon on October 6. “Are Sin, Disease and Death Real?” is on Oct. 13; “Doctrine of Atonement” on Oct. 20; and “Probation After Death” on Oct. 27. Services and Sunday School meet at 10 a.m.

Join us for a seminar entitled “Sharing and Understanding Our Beliefs and Commonalities.” The St. Canice Ladies Guild is hosting this fall retreat featuring Thomas P. Bonacci, C.P. on Thursday, October 10. As Executive Director of the Interfaith Peace Project in Antioch, Father Bonacci offers friendly and hospitable programs to help participants cope with inherited stereotypes, innocent misunderstandings, embarrassing questions or general knowledge of the many faith traditions in the world we share.
