Twin Cities Church

Join us as we begin our new series “Reality: Some Things Never Change.” The message this week is “Reality of Heaven.” Twin Cities Church meets Sundays at 8, 9:35, and 11:15 a.m. at 11726 Rough & Ready Highway. Grass Valley United Methodist Church

Our Contemplative Service begins at 8:45 a.m. followed by our Traditional Service at 10:30 a.m. Communion will be served at both services March 3. Sunday School is held during the 8:45 a.m. service for ages 3 to 12, with chimes and drama 9:45 to 10:30. Sunday School for Jr/Sr. High students is held at 9 a.m. Child care for all ages 8:30 a.m. until noon. Homework Heaven meets each Wed. at 3:30 p.m. Worship for young families (WOW) will meet on Wednesday, March 13 at 5 p.m. with a potluck supper, followed by a short worship service. Upcoming special events include: a Cornish Cream Tea, in conjunction with St. Purin’s day, to be held Sat. March 9 in Wesley Hall. There will be two seatings, one at 2 and the second at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through our church office or at the door. It will be a lovely afternoon and a great gift for someone. Our Easter Sunday service will be at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 31, complete with glorious music from our Music Team.

Christian Science Church

“Christ Jesus”is the topic of the weekly Bible Lesson sermon for March 3. “Man” on March 10; “Substance” on March 17; “Matter” on March 24 and “Reality” on March 31. These same Bible Lessons are read at Christian Science churches all over the world. Here in Grass Valley, services and Sunday School meet at 10 a.m.

Wednesday evening meetings at 7:30 p.m. is a special time to express gratitude for healings and progress made in the study of Christian Science. The church is located at 375 Crown Point Circle. Telephone: 530-273-9452. All are welcome.

Sierra Presbyterian Church

Nevada City United Methodist Church

This week will be the 3rd Sunday in Lent and the Gospel is from Luke 13:1-9. Pastor Charles Smith will be leading worship at both the 9 a.m. Traditional and 10:30 a.m. Contemporary services. Sunday School is held during the 10:30 service with loving child care all morning. Jr. and Sr. youth group takes place downstairs in the Joseph Room at 10 a.m. with a light cereal breakfast and short bible study before the group joins the 10:30 service. First Baptist Church of Nevada City

During our 10:30 am worship service, Dr. Ralph Wilson will be speaking on the topic, “Trusting Jesus with Your Future.” Many of us are tormented by

our anxieties. We’ll consider what Jesus taught about trust. On Wednesday’s we meet at the church for a potluck at 6 p.m. and Bible study at 7 p.m., studying the disciplines that help us grow spiritually, following Richard Foster’s book, Celebration of Discipline. Brother, can you spare an … hour?

A group of local men meets from 6 to 7 a.m. Thursdays at Penny’s Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men’s Committee,” we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times. Pray Nevada County

We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. St. Canice Roman Catholic Church, Nevada City

Pope John Paul II quoted the best and most effective way to grow in holiness for “our essential commitment in life is to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist. Not only with our communal worship at Holy Mass — it must go together with our Personal Worship of Jesus and extending in Eucharistic Adoration, in order that our love may be complete.” Pope Benedict XVI announced October 2012 a special “Year of Faith” to help Catholics appreciate the gift of faith, deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their commitment in this love with others.

St. Canice’s Parish Church will implementing the Eucharistic Adoration for this Lenten Season. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be read after which will take us into Benediction. Starting from noon to 3 p.m. on March 10, we invite each and every one of our parishioners and visitors to spend some quiet time at our Holy Church. Our regular daily Mass is 7:30 a.m. weekend masses, Sat. 5:30 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. (third Sunday will be our Children’s Mass at 11 a.m.).
