“GOD” is the subject of the Bible Lesson sermon on Jan 6. First Baptist Church, Grass Valley

“Running the Race” is the title of the new sermon series at First Baptist! As we begin 2013, we’re going to be challenged with a message titled “Starting with Strict Training.” Traditional service at 9 a.m. features a mix of praise songs and hymns in traditional setting. Grass Valley United Methodist Church

Beginning Jan. 6 through Feb. 3, Pastor Rev. McDonald will begin a five week sermon series “Wrestling With the Bible” at our 10:30 Traditional Service. The community is invited to join us. Plan to come each Sunday and bring a friend. Coffee fellowship follows. Our Contemplative Worship Service begins at 8:45. Communion will be served Jan. 6 and Feb. 3 at both services.

Sunday school is held during the 8:45 service for ages 3 to 12, with chimes and drama 9:45 to 10:30. Sunday school for

Brother, can you spare an … hour?

A group of local men meets from 6 to 7 a.m. Thursdays at Penny’s Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men’s Committee,” we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times. Pray Nevada County

We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries.  Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Grass Valley AM AGLOW

We are a local chapter of Aglow International and meet the second Tuesday of every month from 9:45 a.m. to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. On the January 8 meeting, local missionary to Poland, Michelle Lewandowski will be ministering an inspiring word from the Lord to launch 2013. We are a Christian cancer support group that meets at Foothill Church. Those with serious chronic illnesses, including cancer, and their care givers are encouraged to come and share in a safe environment concerning this difficult time. The Palestine-Israel Working Group of Nevada County (PIWG)

We advocate for human rights, equality and justice for all in Palestine and Israel. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Peace Center of Nevada County, 216 B Main Street, Nevada City. PIWG sponsors the Women and Men in Black vigil Thursdays, 5:15 to 6 p.m. on the Broad Street bridge in Nevada City. We vigil to in support of the Women in Black in Israel, who founded the movement in 1988. All who support human rights and justice for all in Palestine and Israel are welcome to join the vigil. Nevada City United Methodist Church

Epiphany Sunday is this week so join us as Pastor Charles Smith delivers the message at both the 9am Traditional and 10:30am Contemporary worship services. Sunday School will be held during the 10:30 a.m. service with loving childcare all morning. Jr. and Sr. High Youth will meet at 10 a.m. in our Joseph Room for a light cereal breakfast and bible study before joining worship. A time of fellowship follows both services downstairs in our Fellowship Hall.
