First Baptist Church, Grass Valley

As the first missionaries shared the Gospel with many people they learned how to share the Gospel in a way that everyone could understand. Preaching out of Acts 17, Pastor Mark Rindels will teach us how we are to “Reason with People” when sharing the Gospel. Trinity Church, Nevada City

Madrigals, spirituals, 20th cntury masterworks, folks songs, jazz and more will be included in a concert by the Trinity Community Chorus at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 16 at Trinity Church, 212 High Street, in Nevada City. The Chorus, directed by Stan Thomas-Rose and accompanied by Laurie Gautney, features singers ranging from school age to retirees and most points in between, and will be presenting a challenging and eclectic program.  Admission is free, but a collection will be taken to benefit the Kellerman foundation to the Batwa Pygmies.

We are also having a Craft & Collectable Faire from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on August 29 to raise funds for repairs and maintenance on their historic Gold Rush building. Vendors will be selling a variety of merchandise, including antique, vintage, and handmade items. There will also be a free Flower Festival with wonderful music in the church. Refreshments will be available. On Sundays, Eucharistic services are celebrated at 8 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 10:30 a.m, with a full music program at the latest one. Father Christopher Seal and Father Brad Helmuth alternate acting as celebrant and giving the homily. There is also an adult forum at 9:00 with a video by Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson on Christian mysticism, followed by discussion. Find warm friendship while worshiping at Trinity Church. Emmanuel Episcopal Church

August is a busy month at Emmanuel: Sunday, August 23 is Youth Sunday at Emmanuel. The children of Emmanuel are invited to take on many roles in all of the services on this Sunday, including ushering/greeters; reading of the Gospel; Prayers of the People; music; including the delivery of the sermon that day. The 23rd of August, is also our Welcome Back Day for Sunday School Children as we begin the fall term of classes. This event happens on the front lawn of Emmanuel at 10 a.m. It is an opportunity for parents to meet the Sunday school teachers and become familiar with the programs being offered in the class rooms and for the kids to reconnect with classmates and meet new classmates. Parents and children from the community are invited to this event. On Sunday, August 30, we welcome The Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. Bishop Beisner will be presiding at all three services, 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30. During his visit Bishop Beisner will be administering the Sacrament of Confirmation to members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Sacrament of Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” We are located at 235 S. Grace Lutheran Church

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on the first and third Thursdays of each month, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
