The KARE Crisis Nursery will host its third annual Oktoberfest celebration at 3 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Pioneer Park in Nevada City.

Libations from seven breweries and hard cider producers will be available for $2 a pour, as well as German food plates and desserts. Festival music will kick off with the “Papa OomPahPah” German band, followed by a dance exhibition and lessons by the Alpine Dancers. After that, comes the great rock-and-roll dance music of the Road Test Band.

Tony Norskog, collector of vintage motorcycles, will also host an exhibition of old bikes, including his 1953 R-25 BMW and 1955 NSU Max. Proceeds from the event will benefit the KARE Crisis Nursery, which provides respite and emergency childcare services for families in need. The visits to the nursery increased by nearly 50 percent over the past year. Most of the funds raised go directly to much-needed childcare expenses.

Tickets are available at, or by calling KARE Crisis Nursery at 530-265-0693.
