MacKenzie – Smith engagement

Kelly MacKenzie and Christopher Smith, both of Boulder, Colo., have announced their engagement.

Both are longtime residents of Nevada County, and both are graduates of Seven Hills Middle School and Nevada Union High School. They lost touch after high school but were reconnected through a mutual childhood friend.

Smith proposed to Miss MacKenzie in June 2007 while on a picnic at a winery in Amador County, one of their favorite areas to go wine tasting.

The future bride holds a degree in business/marketing. She works in medical equipment sales, selling respiratory equipment and IV drug therapies.

The future groom holds a degree in finance/economics from San Diego State University. He is employed as a senior financial project leader.

The couple enjoys hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, wine-making and frequenting food and wine events. They hope someday to start a small vineyard.

The couple plan to marry in August at Ironstone Vineyards in Calaveras County.
