Ewings celebrate 50 years

Charlie and Julie Ewing
Submitted by Stacey Duccini |

Julie and Charlie Ewing of Grass Valley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 17. As a gift and to celebrate, they treated their loved ones to an Alaskan inland passage cruise.

It was summer 1962 when they met. Julie was a bank secretary and Charlie worked for Dr. Pepper. He came into her bank to cash his check and saw her on the telephone at a back desk. He called to her and asked, “Is that business or monkey business?” Julie blushed, and the rest is history.

Charlie and Julie moved to Nevada County from Los Angeles with their three young daughters 40 years ago. Their daughters, Kelly Kucin, Stacey Duccini and Kimberly Ewing are all now living in Nevada County with their own families, including three grandchildren, Marley and Nico Duccini and Dayne Kucin.
