Anniversary of Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ inspires launch of satellite channel devoted to icon’s music

Can you believe it? Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was released 25 years ago. The album skyrocketed Jackson into international superstardom when it sold more than 104 million copies worldwide and was the first in history to have seven top-10 singles.

To celebrate this anniversary, XM Radio announced that it is launching a new channel dedicated to the music of pop icon Michael Jackson on March 1; it’s called “XM THRILLER: The Music of Michael Jackson” (XM 63). Music industry legend Quincy Jones, who produced “Thriller,” will serve as executive advisor, providing counsel on the channel’s creative direction and structure.

XM is America’s No. 1 satellite radio company with more than 8.5 million subscribers. Programming information for the channel will be available online at http://www.xmradio.com/thriller.

All told, Jackson has received 13 Grammy awards and recorded 13 No. 1 singles during his career.
