Ann Reed

Memorial services for Ann Christie Reed will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sierra Presbyterian Church, 175 Ridge Road in Nevada City.

Mrs. Reed died Friday, Dec. 19, of cancer. She was 79.

She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Columbus, Ga. She was an accomplished artist in watercolors and pastels and a skilled fly-fisher who spent many summers on the Madison River in Southwestern Montana. A selection of her paintings will be on display at the memorial. Before moving to Grass Valley in 1985, Ann and her family lived in Texas, Missouri, Ohio and San Diego.



She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Abbot Reed; son, John Scott Reed; and granddaughter, Camila Rosa Reed-Guevara. She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Roy Christie; mother, Jessie Wheat Christie; and two sisters, Jessie Brumfield and Jane Ector.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.
