Ananda Singers presents ‘Christ Lives’

The Ananda Singers present “Christ Lives: An Oratorio” Sunday in Grass Valley.

An 18-voice choir, The Ananda Singers has performed for 20 years before such audiences as Pope John Paul. They specialize in the music of composer Donald Walters, founder of the Ananda Community on the San Juan Ridge. Musical director David Eby is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and has been performing and conducting for 30 years.

The music the choir will sing was composed after a pilgrimage that Walters made to the Holy Land in 1983. There he experienced the deep inspiration of Christ as a living presence and wrote each piece from that uplifted state of awareness.

The performance begins at 3 p.m. at the Grass Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12889 Osbourne Hill Drive. The suggested donation is $10.

Contact Eby at 478-7687 or by e-mail eby@crys for more information. And to read more about the music and the composer, go online at
