Anamae Rodenkirch

Anamae Rodenkirch, 88, of Grass Valley died Monday, Feb. 21, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned. Burial will be in the family plot at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Ill.

Mrs. Rodenkirch was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., to John Thomas and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Reynolds. She was raised and attended local schools in Chicago. She graduated from the University of Chicago, where she earned a degree in education. She worked for 35 years as a math teacher in Chicago and California. She married Clarence Rodenkirch in Chicago, in 1942. She retired in 1972, from teaching in Taft and moved to Nebraska to live near her son and daughter. While in North Platte, Neb. She was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In 1987, she moved to the Grass Valley area to be near her other daughter and family. She was an ardent reader, past member of Saint Simian and Judge in Southern California and a member of the California Teachers Association.



She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Ken Jacobs of Chicago Park; son, Thomas Rodenkirch of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Ann Fiesta of Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rodenkirch in 1953.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
