Amy Raff

According to her wishes, no services will be held for Amy Simon Raff, of Nevada City. Mrs. Raff passed away May 17 at Spring Hill Manor in Grass Valley. She was 85.

Mrs. Raff was born Oct. 8, 1920, to Samuel and Laura (Gilder) Simon in New York, N.Y. She graduated from Jamaica High School in New York and served in Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On March 14, 1944, she married Gene Raff in New York, N.Y. Mrs. Raff was a singer, dancer and actress, activities she also pursued in her free time along with gemology. After her marriage, she was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Raff is survived by her daughter, Karen Stone of Nevada City; sons Karl Raff of Penn Valley, and Ken Raff of Boston, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law Wilma and Arthur Lipman of Delroy Beach, Fla.; brother, Max Simon of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; grandson, Sky Press of Santa Cruz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Simon; father, Samuel Simon; and husband, Gene Raff.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
