American tragedy

If you can get past the boiler plate politics and emotions of this presidential campaign, the unalterable truth remains. We who believed George W. Bush’s first presidential campaign promises and voted for him were deceived. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

American voters are being amBUSHed or, as they say in Texas, BUSHwacked. White lies, black lies, small lies, big lies. The end justifies the means. No matter how the president’s white-wash re-election machine spins reality, lies can only exist in the absence of truth.

George Bush is counting on being able to bait the voters with the fear of terrorism, then to hook them with slickly massaged sugar coated sound bites. The ever present smirk says, I don’t believe the average voter is well enough informed to discern truth from fiction.

As we experience global civilization under attack by religious zealots, we come to understand, fundamentalism, whether religious or political is the angry breeding ground of intolerance and hate. With the exception of the civil war, this nation has never been more internally divided or internationally isolated. No matter your political persuasion, history will record this polarizing presidency as an American tragedy.
