Sandwiched between a just completed five-week tour in Europe and its sixth United States tour beginning in January, the Lonely Kings will appear this Friday in Nevada City.

The Lonely Kings are Jason Wilkinson on vocals and drums, Jonas

Davidson on lead guitar; Jon Jamieson on bass and Jake Desrochers on vocals and guitar.

Wilkinson and Desrochers moved back recently from the Bay Area to Nevada County.

” After touring all summer and fall, I wanted to retreat to a more relaxed atmosphere. I’m also a new father and this is a great place to raise kids. I think its easier for kids to find trouble in Santa Cruz,” said Desrochers who was raised in Cedar Ridge.

“It’s great to get back to my roots, and see the powerful movements of nature. I saw a bear coming home from work the other day,” he added.

Wilkinson grew up in Nevada City and Smartsville. He is Jonathan Richman’s stepson. Richman is nationally-known musician who appeared in the movie “Something About Mary.”

Also appearing with the Lonely Kings will be The Last Season in a CD release party for that group. All band members are from Nevada County.

The alternative rock begins at 9:30 p.m. at Cooper’s, 235 Commercial St., Nevada City.

Cover is $5. Call 265-0116 for questions.
