Allison plays tonight

Pianist/singer Mose Allison, equally a master in blues and jazz, will perform tonight in Grass Valley with bassist Bill Douglass and drummer Pete Magadini.

Allison, 76, plays about 150 gigs a year in the United States and England. His originals have been covered by a wide variety of musicians, including Van Morrison, The Clash, Vassar Clements, Hot Tuna, The Kingston Trio, John Mayall and Leon Russell.

Admission is $20. Advance tickets are available at Love Shack Records, Yabobo, BriarPatch and The Book Seller or by calling (800) 594-8499.

Nevada County launches grant program

On Tuesday, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved $2 million to launch a new “Community Resiliency Grants” program with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, a news release states.
