Alleged gang members charged in Yuba City killing

YUBA CITY ” Two alleged gang members are going on trial for the death of a man police say the pair beat up and crushed beneath a pickup truck.

Twenty-one-year-old Aaron Richard Ouelette and 20-year-old Michael Angelo Sanudo were charged this week with first-degree murder, robbery and gang charges in Sutter County Superior Court.

Police say the two men attacked and robbed 32-year-old Willie Dean Roberts Jr. on September 29. The victim had been riding his bicycle shortly after 11 p.m.

Police say Oulette backed a pickup truck over the victim and then pulled forward so a tire was on his head.

With Roberts trapped, police say the gang member inched the truck forward with tires screeching.

An investigator with the district attorney’s office said Roberts died from traumatic asphyxiation ” meaning he had been crushed by the truck.
