All that jazz camp

Sierra Jazz Society is putting on Jazz Camp 2008 July 16-20, a time during which two concerts are also performed: One is by the camp’s faculty on July 14 (7 p.m.) and include a silent auction; the other is by camp students on July 20 (3 p.m.).

Both are at Miners Foundry in Nevada City. We will tell you more details about the concerts closer in.

The camp itself, held at Nevada City School of the Arts, Bitney Springs Rd., Nevada City, is in its seventh year.

Artistic Director Bill Douglass says he sets the tone for Jazz Camp by “encouraging students to take musical risks, have fun, experience deep listening and develop a strong sense of community.”

Scholarships and work-study plans are available. Tuition of $450 includes daily lunch, two tickets to the Faculty Concert and two to the Student Concert.
