With its current Nevada County lineup in place since early 2001, Rad Cat is a family affair.

There are brothers George Salazar (lead vocals and guitar) and Ernie Salazar (bass and backup vocals). Then there’s the husband-wife team of Frank Bonomolo (drums and percussion) and Michelle Bonomolo (lead vocals and keyboards).

Rounding out the group are Nick Simons on rhythm guitar and deejay EZ Bake on digital turntable. Rad Cat plays modern rock cover tunes from the ’90s to today, including Creed, Sublime, No Doubt, Floater, Pink, the B52s and Nelly Furtado.

“Our focus is to play diverse current rock and pop songs that you hear on the radio, like P.O.D. and Michelle Branch, Rad Cat-style,” Michelle Bonomolo said.

Rad Cat will perform at McGee’s Annex, 315 Broad St., Nevada City, starting at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
