Alice Edie

Memorial services for Alice Lorine Edie of Grass Valley will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, of Grass Valley. Pastor David Carruthers of Twin Cities Church will be officiating.

Mrs. Edie died Feb. 11. She was 85.

Mrs. Edie was born Sept. 28, 1919, in DuBois, Neb., to Joseph and Otillie Havlicek.



She graduated from Pawnee High School in Pawnie City, Neb. She was married on July 17, 1937, to LeRoy Edie in Marysville, Kan. She was married for 67 years. Her family lived in Marysville, Kan., before moving to San Leandro in 1950 and to Grass Valley in 2000.

She worked as a census worker and volunteered for a school district. She was also a lifelong member of ZCBJ Lodge, which became the Western Fraternal Life Association. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and hand embroidery.




She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Gerald and Diana Edie of Grizzly Flats and Dennis and Marcia Edie of Grass Valley; grandchildren Julie Ullom, Jason Edie and Patrick Edie; and great-grandchildren Kristopher Edie, Katie Edie and Nate Ullom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and granddaughter Katherine Edie.

Burial will take place at Chapel of the Chimes, in Hayword. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
