Alberta Swartz

Services will be held at noon Saturday, July 14, at the Presbyterian cemetery in North San Juan, for Alberta “Berta” Jeanette Swartz. Mrs. Swartz passed away June 29, in Grass Valley. She was 92.

Mrs. Swartz was born March 31, 1915 to Benjamin and Anne Slankard in Santa Barbara. She moved to North San Juan in 1941 and drove the mail route from North San Juan to Smartville. In 1964, she and her husband, Manuel “Bud” Swartz, retired to Yuba City but returned to Nevada County in 1974, where they spent many happy years.

Mrs. Swartz is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Astrid Worley, of San Mateo, and Frank and Gracie Worley, of Nevada City; sister, Vivian Sheen, of Santa Maria; grandchildren Valerie and Bill Tott and Beth and David Olander, of Castro Valley, Jill and John Eisenhower, of Grass Valley, Karen and Jerry Codromac, of Rocklin, and Tim Worley, of Marysville; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel “Bud” Swartz; grandson, Raymond Worley Jr.; parents, Benjamin and Annie Slankard; and sister, Frances Cole.



Memorial contributions can be sent to the North San Juan Fire Department.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
