Alan Small

Alan Small died June 18 following surgery. He was 78.

A celebration of life will be held on July 12 at the Alta Sierra Country Club.

Mr. Small was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Benton Harbor, Mich. His family moved to Glendale where he attended school. He left Glendale Community College to join the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

When he returned he went to work for Pacific Bell Telephone Company, married and started a family. They lived in Burbank for 30 years where he was active in the local Golf Course and served on the city parks and recreation board. He retired after 35 years, as an engineering manager.

After retiring, he and his wife, Marcia, moved to Alta Sierra where they joined the country club. He was very active in the club and played a lot of golf.

Mr. Small is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marcia; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Ted Idlof of Carmichael; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Rebecca; grandsons Jared and Nicholas of Canyon Country; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Dianne Small of La Quinta, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cardiac Program.
