Adult and Family Services director to resign

Phil Reinheimer announced his resignation today as director of Nevada County Adult and Family Services.

He has accepted a job as the Colusa County Director of the Health and Human Services Agency and will leave the Nevada County agency July 19.

“It is an opportunity for me to move to an agency position that has several programs and to expand my professional sights to an agency situation,” Reinheimer said.

The Colusa agency is smaller than the department Reinheimer currently works in, but it comprises social services, community health, environmental health and public adult and child services in one department.

Reinheimer also said that it was a good time to make the move because “my department is in relatively good condition budget-wise.”

The department experienced budget cuts last year, but this year has been fairly unaffected by any cuts, he said.

Human Services Agency Director Jess Montoya will be responsible for deciding how the position is filled. He has two options, explained Reinheimer. Montoya can choose to step in and fill the position himself, or he can appoint a new one.

Reinheimer said that he will not have play a direct part in helping Montoya fill the job. “I think my role at this point is to ensure a smooth transition,” he said.

Reinheimer said that he and his wife will not be leaving the area and he plans to commute to Colusa five days a week. Reinheimer is a volunteer assistant member of the clergy at the Trinity Episcopal Church and says that he plans to continue volunteering on Sundays.
