Accused child molester to be arraigned Friday

A Grass Valley man charged with more than 20 counts of aggravated child molestation is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges this morning in Nevada County Superior Court.

Luis Ponce was arrested in January after Nevada County Sheriff’s investigators searched his home on Rattlesnake Road and allegedly found computer discs with images of children being sexually exploited.

Berkeley Police Department detective also searched his locker at a Berkeley fire station where he commuted to work as a paramedic supervisor, and found several video tapes containing footage of Ponce allegedly molesting young children.

Since his arrest, he has been held at Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County on child pornography charges, but was transferred to Wayne Brown Correctional Facility this week to face the molestation charges.

He is scheduled for arraignment at 11 a.m. Friday in Nevada County Superior Court.
