‘A Taste of the Gold Country’ popular component of Draft Horse Classic

Twenty-two local eateries, 16 wineries and two local breweries will be highlighted at Saturday’s “A Taste of the Gold Country” at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Sponsored by the Grass Valley Downtown Association and the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, “A Taste of the Gold Country” will run from 1 to 4 p.m.

“You generally have more than enough to eat. We have a tremendous return audience because people like the food so much,” said Howard Levine, the Grass Valley Downtown Association’s executive director.

“This is crush time for the wineries and it’s Saturday, which is extremely busy for restaurants,” he added.

“We appreciate the restaurants and wineries who come out and support it. It’s an incredible extra amount of work for them to set up and be here.”

Cool Heat will perform during the afternoon.

Admission is $25 in advance and $30 at the gate, good for unlimited beverage tastings, five food-tasting tickets and a commemorative wine glass. Additional food tickets are two for $5.

Tickets are available at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, Grass Valley-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Odyssey Books, The Book Seller, Penn Valley’s Clean ‘n’ Save or by calling the Downtown Association at 272-8315 for credit card orders.

Since last year’s event sold out, Levine advises attendees purchase their tickets in advance.
