A life of drugs and alcohol

I am surprised that this story has touched so many people. The comments have been very well thought out, appropriate, and positive in nature.

I wish to thank all of you who commented, and all of the people who I know, for the kindness and caring that you shared with me and others.

The problem of drugs and alcohol in our society is very deeply rooted. Most people never become addicted to either drugs or alcohol, but there are the sad cases in which too many of us become addicted to one or the other, and sometimes to both.

I hope that we all have learned something from the death of my son, and so many others. We cannot bring those who succumbed to addictions back, but we can remember them and perhaps learn something from their suffering.
