150 homes evacuated in Colfax fire; more than 200 acres burned

There have been approximately 150 homes evacuated because of a fire near Colfax.

More than 220 acres have been burned so far, and it’s expected that the fire will burn through the night.

The fire, burning near the Cape Horn area, was initially reported at 1:36 p.m by a hiker in the canyon. It is moving north.



Responding to the fire are units from counties of Nevada, Placer, Yuba, Butte, Sierra, Sacramento and Solano, as well as ones from the Tahoe area. Those who’ve been evacuated are being sent to Sierra Vista School in Colfax.
