Nevada Union grad authors, illustrates and publishes children’s book

Eliza Cohen recently wrote, illustrated and published her own children’s book. Then she graduated from Nevada Union High School.

The book, “Poppy and the Honeybees,” not only fulfilled her senior project requirement, but also pointed toward her hopes toward a career as a children’s book illustrator.

“In the future I will probably be just illustrating, but now I know I can write, self publish, and illustrate a book by myself from scratch,” Cohen said. “So I thought that was a really cool learning experience.”

She said her illustrating style is more “classical” than what she normally sees, more detailed and more lifelike.

Cohen said the experience was a great opportunity for her, as senior projects are indeed about career exploration.
