Two Grass Valley wineries open vineyards this month

Sierra Starr will be open “at the vineyard” from noon to 5 p.m. for the next two Saturdays. The public is invited to come see what crush is all about. Phil and Jack Starr will show and explain the picking, fermentation process and pressing off of the wine. There will be wine tasting and specials.

Another Grass Valley winery, Smith Vineyards, will open its property Saturdays in October as well. This is an opportunity to visit the vineyards of Smith and Starr, which aren’t typically open on weekends. Both have downtown Grass Valley tasting rooms.

Smith Vineyard is located on Dog Bar Road. For more about them, visit http://smithvineyard.com/.

Sierra Starr’s vineyard is located at 11179 Gibson Drive in Grass Valley. Visit them at http://www.sierrastarrwine.com/sierrastarrwine/default.htm.
