Montana ‘stompgrass’ swings in to Nevada City Sunday

The Dodgy Mountain Men from Billings, Mont., will make a stop in Nevada City Sunday as part of their western tour Sunday.

The Dodgy Mountain Men sling a home-brewed Montana stompgrass, mixing the rhythms of bluegrass, the soul of the blues and the energy of rock ‘n’ roll with a plethora of other musical traditions to create a diverse electro acoustic experience. The group’s genre-bending experimentation and passion for American roots traditions are weaved together through lyrical storytelling, original voices, unique instrumentation, and live performances.

Since the release of their debut album, “Stronger than Death,” they have shared intimate stages with acts such as The Devil Makes Three, Greensky Bluegrass, Scott Biram, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, Whitewater Ramble, Dead Winter Carpenters, Fruition, Hillstomp, and many more.

The band will be joined by The Rusty Buckets, a local jam grass group out of Placerville. The Rusty Buckets deliver a hat trick performance, weaving reggae, jam grass and funk. The show begins at 6 p.m. Sunday at The Stonehouse in Nevada City. Tickets at the door will be $7; save $2 by purchasing your tickets in advance at The Stonehouse is located at 107 Sacramento St., Nevada City.
