Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Macbeth’ at Sierra Cinemas next week

Kenneth Branagh stars in and co-directs William Shakespeare's "Macbeth."
JOHAN PERSSON |

For the first time in more than a decade, Kenneth Branagh returns to the stage in a Shakespearean role, this time taking the title role in Manchester International Festival’s production of “Macbeth,” directed by himself and Rob Ashford, which will be broadcast as part of the National Theatre Live Season at Sierra Cinemas. “Macbeth” will be shown at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 17 and again at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and Oct. 30.

Captured live in Manchester, England, in July, this new production of Shakespeare’s tragic tale of ambition and treachery unfolds within the walls of an intimate, deconsecrated Manchester church. Alex Kingston (“Doctor Who,” “ER”) plays Lady Macbeth.

“Macbeth” runs approximately two and a half hours with no intermission. Tickets to the screening are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students and children.

They can be purchased at the Sierra Cinemas Box Office and online at http://sierratheaters.com.
