CATS screens Asian Pacific American experience series

Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra, as part of its Cultural Enrichment Series this summer, will present a sequence of award-winning documentaries by the Center for Educational Telecommunications, Inc.

They will show eight films in three evenings in historic chronological order about the Asian Pacific American Experience and History, beginning Tuesday. These programs are designed for general audiences.

Live through unknown and surprising stories as they come alive in intimate first-person voices from the past, giving a feeling for the time and place of lived histories.

See historical sites, artifacts, and documents interwoven with local stories and analyses of renowned scholars, according to PAG.

The audience is welcome to stay for commentaries that follow each screening. The Tuesday and July 29 screenings are two hours each, and the Aug. 26 screening is approximately one hour.

All three are free to the community; donations will be gladly accepted. The films begin at 7 p.m. at the Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada City.
