‘Barefoot in the Park’ takes the stage next week

LeGacy Presents will open its production of “Barefoot in the Park” Sept. 5 at the Nevada Theatre.

The classic Neil Simon comedy will run through Sept. 28th. It features a cast of veteran LeGacy actors, Nadia White, John Bivens, Sara Noah, Ward Thompson, and Ron Rund. Adam Morton will make his debut with the local theater company as the telephone repair man.

Sue LeGate Halford directs the production. Darryl Stines and Verne Freer created the set, reminiscent of 1964 New York City. Newleyweds Paul and Corie Bratter (White and Bivens) struggle through their new emotional and physical surroundings — a cramped fifth floor walk up (with no heat and crazy neighbors), a sweet but slightly overbearing mother (Noah) and an eccentric lothario rooftop neighbor (Thompson).

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door and are available at The Bookseller, Harmony Books, online at legacypresents.com, or by calling 530-268 5419. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 7 p.m. Thursdays (Sept. 18 and 25), and 2 p.m. Sundays (Sept. 21 and 28).

For Gala night, Sept. 6, all tickets are $25 which includes live music by Dave and the Cool Beans, complimentary drinks and appetizers starting at 7 p.m., the show at 8 p.m., and a cake and champagne reception with the cast after the show.
