Back injury sidelines sold-out Jewel show

Jewel announced Monday that due to a back injury, she will be postponing upcoming tour dates, including her scheduled appearance Thursday at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building.

“The singer will reschedule her upcoming California shows that were planned for July 17, 18, 19 and 20 at a later date. Refunds for ticket holders will be available at point of purchase,” according to her statement.

Tickets to her Grass Valley performance were sold out as of Monday, according to the Center for the Arts, which was set to present the widely popular alternative country music singer.

The Center will offer refunds to those who request them through its box office. However, the organization has asked people to reconsider a refund and hold on to their tickets until the show can be rescheduled.

“We understand presenting concerts involves risks. Refunds on a show of this level present a significant financial hardship for The Center. We are a nonprofit organization and we rely on these larger events to support our mission. We ask ticket holders who are able, please keep your existing tickets, which will be honored for a soon-to-be-announced future Jewel concert date,” according to a statement released by the Center.

Those who seek a refund will not be guaranteed a ticket to the rescheduled show, should those tickets sell out, as well.
