Best Block Art Sale: Four artists explore several environments through different artistic mediums in Nevada City
November 28, 2018
Back after a two-year break, Jennifer Rain Crosby and Judith Lancaster are joined in Lancaster's woodwork shop at 211 Jordan Street for this year's Best Block Art Sale by painter Heather deViveiros and publisher/author Louis Flint Ceci.
The Best Block Art Sale will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 211 Jordan Street, Nevada City.
The four artists explore natural, social, spiritual and mythical environments — in paintings, prints, cards, books and turned wooden bowls.
Heather deViveiros' tree paintings are vibrant — whether in fields of flowers, against the sky and rolling hills, or up close and personal — the trees are bursting with life.
Crosby's trees may be dark and brooding, or suffused with fall color — in the hills around our community and fringing the Yuba River. Figures from mythology leap from her paintings, whilst Japanese-style branches laden with blossom soothe the mind.
Ceci's publishing house, Beautiful Dreamer Press, publishes high-quality paperback books of interest to the LGBTQ community. The award-winning books are designed in Nevada City and distributed world-wide.
