As one of the April Poetry Month pop-up events culminating in the 3rd Annual Sierra Poetry Festival, poet Susan Wooldridge will facilitate a “JournalWild” workshop, according to a release.

Organizers recommend bringing a journal or notebook (the old-fashioned, paper kind), pens or pencils. Using word tickets, dictionary pages and collage materials, Wooldridge plans to lead the group in exercises focusing on creating an inner refuge in challenging times, a sanctuary from heart to page.

“Whenever I open my journal, I find I breathe more deeply,” Wooldridge said.

Wooldridge has held workshops on journals, creative writing and collage with thousands of adults and children. She has worked in over 80 rural libraries sponsored by Poets & Writers and the California Center for the Book.

Her book “Poemcrazy: Freeing Your Life with Words” is in its 30th printing.

Wooldridge is finishing a book about imagination, land and language from her hilltop office in a vintage trailer called The Bolt. For more information, visit
