Women gather Feb. 15 in Nevada City to discuss menopause

Menopause is a profound period in a woman’s life where women come into the full bloom of inner wisdom, says Alexandra Epple, an instructor at Nirvana Wellness Center and leader of at an upcoming event on that topic.

Yet, Epple said, many women are discouraged as their bodies are gaining weight, hot flashes start to hit, periods become irregular and moods are unstable.

Epple will lead an educational discussion Saturday on what is happening during menopause, how women can navigate it naturally and come out the other end feeling better than ever.

The free discussion (RSVP required) is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at South Yuba Club training center, 555 Searls Ave., Nevada City.

Epple said the event will cover:

— How to turn menopause into an opportunity and get clarity about what is happening during this phase of life

— Why society has the treatment approach backward and what to do instead

— The three components women need to transition through menopause with ease and grace

The class is open to women going through or approaching menopause — as well as men who want to support a partner in the process.
