‘The Secret Garden’ opens Friday

Quest Theaterworks will open its outdoor production of “The Secret Garden” Friday at the Burton Homestead in Nevada City.

The play, is based on the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and adapted to the stage by Sylvia Ashby, will be set on the pond at the Nevada City property. Burton Homestead is now preserved by the Bear Yuba Land Trust.

Quest Theaterworks is offering free tickets to children 12 and under accompanied by an adult thanks to a grant from the Community Players Trust, according to the non profit community theater organization. Tickets for adults are $20 and $18 for teens and are available online at http://questtheaterworks.com/, or at BriarPatch Co-op.

Friday is opening night, with subsequent shows Saturday, Sunday, July 25, 26 and 27. All performances are at 6 p.m.

Since it will be staged outdoors, patrons are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets and picnics.
