In ‘The Great Northwest Mining & Doo-Wop Co.,’ four hard-rock gold miners from the 16-to-1 Mine in Alleghany have been moved to the Brown Bear Mine near Weaverville, Calif. They are charged with the task of finding investors to support their struggling mining operation. Converting an abandoned 19th century foundry into a cabaret called The Doo Wop Inn, they devise entertainment to pique the interest of vacationing summer campers while acquainting them with the joys, challenges and life lessons of hard rock gold mining as well as the thrill of doo-wop singing. Fact based, ‘The Great Northwest Mining & Doo-Wop Co.’ offers insight into the present day workings of the industry that brought people to “The Gold Country” more than a century ago.

With plenty of laughs and familiar hit tunes, ‘The Great Northwest Mining & Doo-Wop Co.’ features the talents of an all-veteran Off Broadstreet cast, including Chris Crockett, Jed Dixon, Andrew Kerr, Darryl Stines and keyboardist Katie Baker. The musical selections include popular doo wop favorites from the 1950s and early ‘60s by groups like The Dells, The Silhouettes, The Earls, The Coasters, The Drifters and many others, with two dozen top hits of the era, including Little Star, Silence is Golden, Get A Job, Rockin’ Robin, and Workin’ in a Gold (Coal) Mine. ‘The Great Northwest Mining & Doo-Wop Co.’ is suitable for all audiences.
