Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area nominated for best resort by USA Today
Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area is one of 20 resorts in the running for the title of best cross-country ski resort in North America.
The area has been nominated by USA Today, who solicited feedback from United States Nordic Olympians — all current or former members of the United States Nordic Ski Team.
Members of the public may vote for Tahoe Donner at http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-cross-country-ski-resort/tahoe-donner-truckee-calif/.
Voting is open until 8:59 a.m. Feb. 8 and votes may be cast every 12 hours.
“We are honored to be recognized by USA Today and Olympians for our resort,” said Sally Jones, Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area manager. “Over the last few years we have made it our mission to enhance our visitors’ experiences and being named among the best is confirmation we have succeeded.”
Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area offers over 100 kilometers of terrain, specially prepared for the best experience for traditional cross country striding, skate skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking.
New this year is a state-of-the-art facility, known as the Alder Creek Adventure Center, offering streamlined rental services, larger wax rooms and locker rooms, expanded indoor and outdoor seating, a large Nordic retail store, a pub with televisions and a fireplace.
Additional improvements include new rental equipment, including a new fleet of Fischer SCS skate skis, classic skis and Salomon pilot combo boots; and new grooming equipment that includes a Ginsu grooming implement, allowing for higher quality, low snow grooming.
Within the building is a new restaurant, known as the Alder Creek Café.
Items from the restaurant include fresh grab and go meals, house-made soups, salads, sandwiches and baked goods with beer and wine selections available as well.
Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area is open daily to the public and offers private and group lessons, rentals and signature events throughout the season.
“We hope folks love our new facility as much as we do and appreciate our vast trail system that is meticulously groomed daily — and that we can count on lots of local votes,” Jones said.
