Ride the wave with Room of Voices

Room of Voices combines a new direction in music, raw talent and a collective of world sounds. This powerful electronic duo’s upcoming live performance takes place at the Stonehouse in Nevada City on Oct. 18. Prepare your mind, body, and soul to take a multi-dimensional journey; with waves of funk, psychedelica, jazz, world, dance, dubstep and fusion music, Room of Voices invites us on a quest of inner connectivity, heralding a new realm of listener participation.

Room of Voices is the coalesced talents of Mingo Lewis and Karissa Gallo. Lewis (drums/vocals/percussion) is one of the top hand percussionists and drummers in the world today. As well as a musician in the world of jazz, world, funk, rock, afro-Cuban, and fusion music, he also composes works for films. Lewis has been featured on many gold and platinum albums over the years, with artists such as Santana, Brian Eno, David Byrne, XTC, Aretha Franklin, Houssain Kili and others. Live performances include James Brown, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, Jeff Beck, etc.

Karissa Gallo (keyboards/electronic/percussions/vocals) aka “Sound Sapien,” is a lifelong musical savant — from studying jazz to world music, she has developed her own voice. As a “sound designer,” she changes directions seamlessly, weaving jazz to hip-hop — and beyond — to create a powerful musical experience.

Together, Lewis and Gallo create a sound-morphing journey, leading us deep into the world of ethno-electronica.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18; tickets are $15.The Stonehouse is located at 107 Sacramento St, Nevada City.
