Quite the Shindig: 12th annual autumn event supports North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center

Submitted to Prospector

Sunday’s annual Autumn Shindig at the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center is a celebration of fall, community and simpler times.

The event is nostalgic, from being set on the lawn next to the historic schoolhouse, to the handmade children’s games and the hearty stew made from local ingredients. There is live music and the vendors all have handmade artisan wares.

It’s also a chance to relax and enjoy a fall Sunday with good friends, music, food and games. Among those are the beard and mustache contest, as well as the hot pepper eating contest. Prizes awarded to winners in both, as well as for the best pie in a juried contest.

The 12th annual Shindig is family friendly with free admission. Tokens will be for sale for games, treats and eats, as a fundraiser for the cultural center.

“This is our most important FUNdraiser for the year,” a news release states. “Thank you for your generous support!”
