Praise in the Mountains set for Saturday at Western Gateway Park, Penn Valley

Blues and jazz band Machaira is one of six bands to play Saturday at Praise in the Mountains at Western Gateway Park, Penn Valley.

For the 25th year, a free gospel concert, “Praise in the Mountains,” will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. at Western Gateway Park, 18560 Penn Valley Dr., Penn Valley.

The event, the largest running free gospel concert, includes six bands of various music styles.

The concert is non-denominational and and the event family oriented.



The concert atmosphere will be enhanced with family games giving away free prizes, interactive air jumps and children activities.

There will be free drawings all day for prizes; at 8 p.m.: $1,000 cash will be the grand prize.




Blues and jazz band Machaira, a longtime favorite, returns this year, among others.

The music schedule is as follows:

1 p.m. Cross Connection Rock

2:15 Richards Blvd. Country/Rock

3:30 Amy Ayres Traditional

4:15 Godzown Variety

5:30 Machaira Blues/Jazz

6:30 Unity Choir Gospel

Food is available or bring a picnic. Bring lawn chairs and shade (pop-ups) if it’s a hot day.
